What Is Salvation?

Salvation means being saved—rescued—from sin, death, and eternal separation from God.

It's God's greatest gift to humanity. Through salvation, we are forgiven, made right with God, and given eternal life. It’s not something we earn—it’s something we receive by faith in Jesus Christ.

Why Do We Need Salvation?

Every human being is born with a sin nature. Sin separates us from God.

Scripture:

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” – Romans 3:23 (NIV)
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 6:23 (NIV)

Without salvation, we remain spiritually dead and separated from God forever. But God made a way for us to be restored.

How Did God Provide Salvation?

God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to take the punishment for our sin by dying on the cross and rising from the dead.

Scripture:

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8 (NIV)
“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” – Acts 4:12 (NIV)

Jesus lived a perfect life and died in our place—so we could be forgiven and made new.

How Do I Receive Salvation?

You receive salvation by:

  1. Believing in Jesus (faith)

  2. Turning from sin (repentance)

  3. Surrendering your life to Him

Scripture:

“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” – Romans 10:9 (NIV)
“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” – Romans 10:13 (NIV)

What Happens When I Am Saved?

  • Your sins are forgiven (1 John 1:9)

  • You become a child of God (John 1:12)

  • You receive the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13)

  • You are given eternal life (John 3:16)

  • You begin a new life in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Can I Lose My Salvation?

If your faith is truly in Jesus and you continue walking with Him, your salvation is secure—not because of your performance, but because of God’s grace and faithfulness.

Scripture:

“I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.” – John 10:28 (NIV)

A Prayer of Salvation

“Lord Jesus, I believe You died for my sins and rose again. I confess that I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I repent and turn from my old life. I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You for saving me. I am Yours. Amen.”

Conclusion: Salvation Is Just the Beginning

When you're saved, that’s not the end—it’s the start of a new life with God. He will walk with you, teach you, and strengthen you every day as you grow in your faith.
