God's Strength in Our Weakness

Scripture:
"But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
—2 Corinthians 12:9 (ESV)

Devotional:

The Apostle Paul’s experience shows us that our weaknesses are not something to hide or be ashamed of; instead, they are an opportunity for God’s strength to be made perfect in us. Paul pleaded with God to remove a "thorn in the flesh," but God’s response was unexpected: "My grace is sufficient for you." In other words, God was telling Paul that His strength would shine brightest in the very area where Paul felt weak.

In a world that values self-sufficiency, this is a radical concept. It’s easy to think that God can only use us when we’re at our best—when we’re strong, healthy, and capable. But God’s power is often most evident when we are at our weakest. He wants us to depend on Him, not on our own abilities.

When we embrace our limitations and surrender our weaknesses to God, we make room for His grace to work in profound ways. Our weaknesses become the very space where God’s power rests upon us, enabling us to accomplish things we could never do on our own.

Application:
Is there an area of weakness in your life where you feel inadequate? Instead of trying to hide it or fix it on your own, surrender it to God. Ask Him to fill that space with His strength.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for Your strength that is made perfect in my weakness. I surrender my limitations to You and ask You to work in and through me. Let Your power be evident in my life today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
